Silicon Valley: a region without a government, regulations, or even an agreed upon border. It is often said that "there is no there there," borrowed from Gertrude Stein's opinion of her hometown of Oakland (which some might say is part of Silicon Valley).

Silicon Valley, defined by it's mindset of risk taking, drive and passion for technology, remains enigmatic even to those who live here.

We have decided to study what defines Silicon Valley, seeking perspectives from around the world to help us create a new understanding of what Silicon Valley means.
